NSCDC Arrest 2, Intercept 33,000-Litre Loaded Tanker
The Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have arrested two male suspects who allegedly diverted a tanker loaded with 33,000 litres of petroleum product suspected to be Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as Petrol.
The two suspects, Akeem Adesola aged 30 years from Saki and Benjamin Adeniyib aged 29years were arrested along with their truck, a blue colour Leyland DAF, with registration number EKY 189 XV, on Wednesday, along Iseyin/Saki Road by the Anti-Vandal Unit of the command.
Parading the suspects, the state Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Michael Adaralewa, said the command have re-strategised by improving on intense patrol of crime-prone areas to combat any act of criminality in the state.
The driver confessed that the product was diverted as he admitted that the was taken from Lagos and its destination is Ibadan as it was written on the waybill
The Oyo State NSCDC Commandant disclosed that the two suspects would be charged to court that after thorough investigation has been completed on the alleged diversion.
Commandant Adaralewa Michael used the medium to warn whoever indulges in diversion and illegal dealings in petroleum products to desist from such an act, declaring that the Corps will not leave any stone unturned in dealing with the perpetrators who believe in sabotaging the effort of the government.
”The Oyo NSCDC Command has zero-tolerance for criminalities. Hence, all perpetrators are to either relocate out of Oyo State or face the wrath of the law,” he added.
