Mr Wale Ajani, an aide of Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, has made a case for the inclusion of more indigenes of the state in federal job opportunities.
Ajani, who is the Director General of Oyo State Liaison Office, Abuja and Lagos, said this when he visited the chairman, Federal Character Commission (FCC), Dr Muheeba Dankaka, with a view to seeking for improved mutual relationship.
Ajani, in company of top management staffs of the Oyo State Liaison Office in Abuja, also met the Federal Commissioner in the FCC, Professor Adeniyi Olowofela, to fashion out ways to get federal job opportunities for unemployed Oyo indigenes during recruitments.
He stressed the importance of Dr Dankaka to the overall development agenda of Oyo State under the Seyi Makinde-led government and also the desire to collaborate effectively with the commission in order for the state to benefit more than before in terms of slots, opportunities and considerations.
Ajani asked for more inclusive representation of Oyo indigenes in the area of recruitment, in line with the Federal Character Principle so that they will not be shortchanged or schemed out during recruitment exercise.
Ajani thanked the FCC chairman for the warm reception and promised a more cordial and mutually-beneficial relationship between Oyo State and the commission.
Responding, the FCC chairman expressed the commission’s willingness to collaborate with the Oyo State, noting that such was long overdue.
Dr Dankaka thanked Governor Seyi Makinde for appointing a new Director Genetal who she said has eyes on diverse opportunities from federal ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs).
She also expressed the commission’s readiness to meet with Governor Makinde to deliberate on how to fast-track the construction of the permanent site of the commission in the state which has already been budgeted for in the 2022 financial plan.
She said the state office would provide job opportunities for quite a large number of Oyo State indigenes and also serve as catchment area after the commissioning of the new permanent office by the governor.
The FCC Chairman appreciated Mr Wale Ajani and his team for the courtesy call saying the gesture was timely, heartwarming and productive.
