Osun State governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has been described as a symbol of liberation who was elected to rescue the state from shackles of poverty and mis-governance.
Professor Rèmí Awórèmí (aka Atúraká) stated this in his congratulatory message to Adeleke who was, last Saturday, elected as the governor on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Senator Adeleke defeated the incumbent governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the governor election, winning 17 out of the 30 local government areas in the state.
Awórèmí, a professor of Transport Operations and Management at the Ladoke Akintola University (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, in the congratulatory message, expressed optimism that the governor-elect would liberate Osun State from “the outgoing illegitimate government in power.”
He, however, admonished the governor-elect to immediately embark on programmes and projects that directly affect the lives of the people positively when he is sworn in, as the best way to reciprocate the love and support they gave him before and during the election.
Professor Awórèmí congratulated Senator Adeleke on behalf of his family and the entire stakeholders and structures of the PDP in Ejigbo Local Government Area.
“I have the singular honour to join thousands of Osun citizens, both far and near, Nigerians and people around the world to congratulate our symbol of liberation and the Commander-in-Chief in our democratic struggle to rescue our dear state from the shackles of poverty and mis-governance typified by the outgoing illegitimate government in power.
“Congratulations, Your Excellency, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Adeleke, on your success at the just-concluded Osun governorship election.
“Your overwhelming victory in the last Saturday’s election is a historic one as it affirms you as truly the people’s governor with a genuine heart for service.
“The people of Osun State have, once again, used their power of ballot to elect a governor of their choice.
“In our conscious efforts in reclaiming the stolen mandate, you have exhibited uncommon determination, remarkable vision and exemplary leadership towards regaining the lost glory of our dear state, and thus making her stand tall in the comity of states in Nigeria and beyond.
“I want to, on behalf of the good people of this state, thank you for staying through to the cause of justice, emancipation and development, despite series of state-sponsored attacks against your personality and unfounded persecutions by those who stole the people’s mandate.
“The best way to reciprocate the love and support of Osun people is to embark on programmes and projects that directly affect the lives of the people positively.
“As you prepare to take over the reign of leadership as the Executive Governor of Osun State, I pray that the Almighty lead you in this journey as you implement your people-focused and development-driven plans and programmes for the betterment of the citizens and residents of the state,” Awórèmí stated in the message.
