For allegedly stealing a Sallah ram belonging to one Sodiq Abolore, the police have arrested two persons, Adetunji Alagbe and Opeyemi Ogunlokun.
Luck ran out of the two suspects as they were arrested by men of the Ogun State Police Command on Tuesday, following a report lodged at the Ogijo Divisional Police Headquarters.
Abolore was said to have raised an alarm and immediately alerted the police at about 3am when he discovered that his Sallah ram has been stolen.
The state police image-maker, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, stated this in a press release, AZ:5310/OGS/PRO/VOL.7/130, made available today.
According to the release, Abolore, the owner of the Sallah ram, had reported that while he was sleeping in his house at the about 3am on that fateful day, he heard an unusual noise in his compound.
“He said the noise woke him up and made him to peep through the window, only to discover that the iron gate he used to block the entrance where he kept his Salah ram has been pulled down.
“Abolore said the discovery made him to come out and discovered that his Salah ram, which he bought at the rate of #120,000, was no longer there.
“He further said that, when he searched around, he saw three men forcing his Sallah ram into a waiting Mazda car booth, which made him to raise alarm and made a distress call to the police.
“The three men were chased, and two amongst them were apprehended, while the other one escaped. The Sallah ram was recovered, and the two suspects were taken to custody,” DSP Oyeyemi stated in the release.
The Ogun Police image-maker said the state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has ordered an indepth investigation of the case, with the view of charging the suspects to court as soon as possible.
