Three members of the dreaded Eiye Confraternity have been arrested by the police for allegedly gang-raping and forcefully initiating a 15-year-old girl (name withheld) into their cult group.
The three suspected rapists, Daniel Njoku (aka Agege), Damilare Ogundiran and Adebayo Olamilekan, were arrested, last Thursday, following a report lodged at Ajuwon Divisional Headquarters, Ogun State, by the mother of the victim.
The state police image-maker, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a press release, AZ:5310/OGS/PRO/VOL.7/129.03/07/2022, said the mother reported that she sent her 15-year-old daughter on errand at Akute Odo Area but was waylaid on the road by Daniel Njoku.
“She alleged that the suspect forcefully took her daughter to his gang at their hideout where the young girl was gang raped, beaten and forcefully initiated into Eiye Cult Group.
“She complainant further explained that her daughter was threatened by the suspects that she will be killed if she dare inform anybody about the incident.
“Upon the report, the DPO Ajuwon Division, SP Andrew Akinseye, detailed his detectives to go after the hoodlums,” the Ogun Police said.
He said the police, acting on intelligence report, stormed the hideout of the three suspected rapists cum cultists where they were all arrested.
He further said that the three suspects confessed to having raped and forcefully initiated the young girl into their cult group, adding that they under pressure to commit the crimes.
“The team, acting on a credible intelligence, located the hideout of the group at Akute Odo Area, stormed the place and succeeded in arresting three members of the gang.
“The suspects have confessed to the commission of the crime, they informed the police that they were desperately looking for more members to join their group, especially female members, and that was what prompted them to do what they did,” DSP Oyeyemi said.
He said the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspected rapists to the anti-cultists section of the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation.
