Historical Check Will Be Conducted On Chieftaincy Title Aspirants-Olubadan-Designate
Olubadan-designate, Dr. Lekan Balogun, on Tuesday, declared that historical check will henceforth be conducted on those seeking to be conferred with chieftaincy titles in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
He made it known that the decision was informed by the quest to ensure that only people with respectable background hold chieftaincy titles in Ibadanland.
The Olubadan-designate also said money would not be determinant factor to hold chieftaincy titles in Ibadan during his reign.
Rather, he declared that the focus would henceforth be on the growth and development of Ibadanland, and by extension, the entire state.
The Olubadan-designate made the declaration when he played host to the former First Lady in the state, Chief Mrs. Florence Ajimobi and her entourage at his Alarere residence.
Dr Balogun, who expressed gratitude to God for the strength and courage with which the former First Lady has been forging ahead since the demise of her husband, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, who he described as his darling aburo, said his reign would be a listening one.
“I promise a receptive and open-door reign which would welcome advice and suggestions for the peace and upliftment of our great city,” the Olubadan-designate said.
Earlier, the former First Lady of Oyo State, Mrs. Ajimobi, prayed for good health, sound mind and wisdom for the Olubadan-designate.
She equally prayed for peace, stability, growth and development of the ancient city during and after the reign of Dr Balogun, just as he commiserated with him on the demise of his predecessor.
The wife of the late former Governor Ajimobi was accompanied by a former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief Olalekan Alli, his wife, Mrs. Alli and the wife of a former Head of Service (HoS) in the state, Mrs. Eniade, among others.
