Energy Audit Commences In Ekiti Community
The Nigeria Electrification Project (NEP), under the African Development Bank (ADB), and in conjunction with the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), has commenced community engagement and energy audit of Odiolowo Camp Stead in Imesi Ekiti, Ekiti State.
This was disclosed in a statement issued from the Palace of the Onimesi of Imesi Ekiti in Gboyin/Ayekire Local Government Area, Oba Olatunde Olatunji.
As contained in the statement, the leader of the solar electrification project in Odiolowo, Mr Babajide, said the exploratory activity has been extended to many more camps in the local government area.
Expectedly, the exploratory activity of the agency at the Odiolowo Camp Stead will lead to the installation of Mini Grid Solar Electrification of Odiolowo and restore electricity back to the entire Imesi community which has been without electricity since last year.
It would be recalled that the Imesi Electricity Committee, under the leadership of Chief Rawa, commenced the lighting of street lights in the community, using a community diesel-powered generator, since 23 December, 2020.
The head of Odiolowo Community, Chief Ilesanmi, was full of praises for the Onimesi, Oba Olatunji and the Imesi Electricity Committee for turning their vast connections into the benefit of the community.
The objective of the NEP is to increase electricity access to households and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), students and patients at federal universities and university teaching hospitals throughout the country.
NEP is a nationwide initiative aimed at delivering energy access to un- and underserved communities in the country.
The project supports the Federal Government’s goal to increase electricity access across the country as defined in the national development agenda.
