Oyo State Government, on Tuesday, demolished a residential property suspected to be used as a criminal hideout and arms and ammunition storehouse.
The demolition was part of the ongoing efforts of the state government to combat crime, curb kidnapping and ensure safety of lives and properties of all and sundry
The demolished property comprised a storey building and two bungalows within a fenced compound.
It was located at Gbenku Community, Arubiewe Road, off Olodo Garage in Egbeda Local Government Area, Ibadan.
The demolition exercise was carried out on Tuesday by a team led by the state Commissioner for Public Works and Transport, Abdulmojeed Mogbonjubola.
With him during the operation were operatives of the Nigeria Police Force; Chairman, Egbeda Local Government Area, Hon. Sikiru Sanda; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Transport, Prince Goke Adenrele, and other officials of the ministry.

Speaking with journalists during the demolition exercise, the commissioner disclosed that security agencies uncovered a cache of weapons in the building during an operational investigation and alerted the state government for further actions.
He added that the demolition was in line with the current administration’s commitment to tackling insecurity and curbing criminal activities in Oyo State.
Mogbonjubola urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities within their environments to security agencies.
He also advised landlords and property agents to always carry out proper background checks and profiles of their prospective tenants before letting out their properties.
