Why We Introduced Eko Evergreen Liveband Challenge-Bimbo Esho
Managing Director of Evergreen Music Company Limited, Lagos, Miss Bimbo Esho, has explained that the Eko Evergreen Live Band Challenge was introduced to empower and create fresh window of opportunity for live bands across the Lagos metropolis.
According to her, there is a need for the liveband challenge, which is an initiative of her company, as it “has become very necessary in helping to expose the trending Lagos Musical LiveBand Culture to the global space.”
Miss Esho said she felt so much pity for live bands that have been completely marginalised and relegated to the background, to be given reference and news mention only during owanbes.
She recalled that, several years ago, live bands created the pathway for today’s musicians and represented the country at some of the biggest musical fiestas in all parts of the world.
She said her company is using the platform as a wake-up call and to challenge corporate organisations and the government who have unknowingly created severe marginalisation between musicians and thereby gave prominence to artistes whose works and general aesthetics doesn’t represent the Nigerian musical culture.
Esho, whose entertainment outfit has become a household name in the Nigerian entertainment space in the past 25 years, has been at the forefront of promoting and preserving Nigerian entertainment musical icons.
“With over 800 live bands playing different music genres and scattered in the Lagos metropolis, there is an urgent need to rescue them and bring them all under one roof and showcase to the world.
“This music event will bring these musical geniuses to compete under one roof, win laurels and create an healthy environment that will help boost tourism and hospitality in the state, while driving economic activities, commerce and open fresh opportunity for prospective Lagosians,” she said.
Bimbo Esho further she said the music event will also help create employment opportunities and engage different youths and therefore shift their attention away from pervading social vices.
