2023: Group Endorses Fashola/Zulum Presidential Ticket
A support group, The Nigeria Project 2023, has reportedly endorsed the Minister of Works, Babatunde Raji Fashola SAN, as its preferred presidential candidate ahead the 2023 elections.
The group also picked the governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Zulum as the running mate of Fashola to be the next occupants of Aso Villa after the expiration of the two-term tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
The Fashola/Zulum agenda has been flying on the social media, though the two top politicians are yet to make any public declaration of their intention to contest the 2023 presidential election.
The Nigeria Project 2023 is set to officially launch on 2 October, 2021 and formally make public its decision to pick Fashola and Zulum for the presidential ticket.
The race for the presidential ticket became especially more interesting in the All Progressives Congress (APC) as several individuals within the party are showing interest in the 2023 elections.
Indications to this effect was the return, today, of a former governor of Lagos State and a leader of the party, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to the country today.
Tinubu has been away to London for several months to seek medical treatment but, as seen in a video that has since gone viral, he made a return to the country.
Though the former governor is yet to publicly announce his intention to run for the presidency in 2023, his return gave rise to insinuations that the influential politician may throw his hat into the ring and eventually contest the election.
This is as there have been reports of many groups coming up to promote the much-speculated presidential ambition of the former governor of Lagos State.
Also, though not yet official, Ekiti State governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, whose second term tenure expires in 2022, is also said to be interested in taking a shot at the presidency.
However, there are speculations that all what the Ekiti governor wants is to take over from Professor Osinbajo and be the next vice president in 2023.
