The Management of the Federal College of Agriculture (FCA), Moor Plantation, Ibadan has disowned a fake Facebook account fraudulently impersonating its Provost, Professor Jonathan J. Atungwu.
The Management of the College stated this in a Notice of Disclaimer to inform the general public about certain individuals who were impersonating the Provost on Facebook and possibly other social media platforms.
As contained in a statement e-signed by the Head, Public Relations Unit, FCA Ibadan, Wilson Oyekemi Omowumi, the said individuals have been using the fake Facebook account to impersonate Professor Atungwu, using using the names “Jonathan Atungwu” and “Atungwu Jonathan Jeremiah”.
The FCA Management advised members of staff and the general public not to have any dealings in whatever form with the individuals impersonating.
“The Staff of the College and the public are hereby advised that these individuals are impostors and are not in any way affiliated with the Provost or the College.
“Any communication, request, or transaction conducted through these names or unauthorised channels should be treated as fraudulent and disregarded,” it advised in the disclaimer.
The College Management further instructed that all official communications from the Provost and the College should strictly be disseminated through verified and recognised institutional platforms.
“Members of the public are strongly urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious contact or activity to the appropriate authorities or the College Management.
“The College will not be held liable for any loss or damage arising from dealings with these impostors,” it was added in the disclaimer.
