Okanlomo Oodua, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, has been honoured with the Ona Ara Local Government Development Guru Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to grassroots development and community advancement.
The award was presented to Sanusi, the Bada Olubadan of Ibadanland, as part of activities marking the first-ever Ona Ara Youth Summit, held recently at Ilaji Resort, Akanran.
The summit provided a platform to celebrate distinguished individuals whose efforts have significantly supported the growth and development of Ona Ara Local Government.
Presenting the award, Chairman of Ona Ara Local Government, Dr. Temitope Kolapo Glorious, described Sanusi as a rare development-driven leader whose vision and commitment have continued to positively shape the local government.
He said the developmental insight and passion of Sanusi, the Asiwaju of Ona Ara, remained unmatched, noting that he has consistently served as a backbone to the progress of Ona Ara Local Government.
Dr Glorious particularly highlighted the establishment of Ilaji Resort in Akanran as a landmark investment that has boosted economic activities, youth empowerment, tourism development, and employment opportunities within the local government area and its environs.
“The impact of Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi on Ona Ara Local Government is profound and enduring.
“Since the establishment of Ilaji Resort, he has continued to complement government efforts through strategic investments, youth-focused initiatives, and unwavering support for community development,” he stated.
The award, Glorious added, reflected the collective appreciation of the people of Ona Ara for Chief Sanusi’s selfless contributions, visionary leadership, and dedication to sustainable development.
Organisers of the Ona Ara Youth Summit noted that the Development Guru Award was reserved for individuals whose actions and investments have left visible and lasting impacts on the socioeconomic wellbeing of the local government.
Chief Sanusi, a renowned philanthropist and community leader, was commended by youths and stakeholders present at the event, who described the recognition as well-deserved and inspiring for future generations.
