The Ọ̀kanlọmọ Odùduwà, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, has declared that he prioritised Yorùbá unity, its impact and cultural preservation far above any controversies surrounding chietaincy titles.
Sanusi made the clarification in a release, on Wednesday, from the Office of the Ọ̀kanlọmọ Odùduwà, signed by his personal media aide, Williams Abiola.
The clarification was coming on the heels of recent media reports as regards the decision of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, to confer the title of Ọ̀kanlọmọ of Yorubaland on Mr Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu.
Chief Sanusi stated that, rather than dwelling on any controversies, he remained focused on his core mandate, including the preservation, promotion, and advancement of Yorùbá culture, values, unity, and socio-economic development across generations and borders.
“The Office of the Ọ̀kanlọmọ Odùduwà wishes to clarify its position regarding recent public discussions and media reports surrounding the conferment of the title Ọ̀kanlọmọ of Yorubaland on Mr. Seyi Tinubu by the Alaafin of Oyo.
“Chief Engineer Jubril Dotun Sanusi, the Okanlomo Odùduwà, is a firm believer in purposeful leadership, cultural preservation, and meaningful impact.
“He is not inclined to join issues, debates, or controversies surrounding titles, personalities, or inter-traditional discourse.
“The Ọ̀kanlọmọ Odùduwà remains focused on his core mandate: the preservation, promotion, and advancement of Yorùbá culture, values, unity, and socio-economic development across generations and borders.
“Similarly, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ọjájá II), the Ooni of Ifẹ̀, continues to demonstrate uncommon statesmanship by prioritising the stability, cohesion, and collective progress of the Yorùbá race, rather than engaging in divisive narratives.
“Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi is, above all, a gentleman, bridge-builder, and cultural custodian, whose philosophy is anchored on the Ọmọlúwàbí ethos — dialogue over discord, impact over noise, and legacy over momentary relevance.
“He believes that Yorùbá greatness is best sustained through unity, mutual respect among traditional institutions, and collaborative efforts, not through public confrontations or competing narratives,” it was stated in the release.
The Ọ̀kanlọmọ Odùduwà further restated his commitment to cultural diplomacy, youth empowerment, Diaspora reconnection, economic and educational advancement within Yorùbáland
“He remains steadfast in working with all well-meaning stakeholders for the collective good of the Yorùbá people, irrespective of titles or personal distinctions.
“This is a time for calm reflection, cultural responsibility, and unity — not contention,” it was further stated in the release.
