The Oyo State Police Command has clarified that there was no casualty in an armed robbery that occured along the state Secretariat Road, Agodi, Ibadan, on Monday.
The state police boss, Mr Femi Haruna, stated this in a release, AZ:5250/OY/PPRO/VOL.6/323, by the Police PPRO, Adewale Osifeso, dated October 27, 2025.
The law enforcement agency however confirmed that the robbery incident actually happened at approximately 8:00 am on Monday along the Secretariat Road, Agodi.
“A bank depositor traveling in a metallic grey Nissan Primera with license plate number EPE 901 PS was tracked and forcibly robbed of a substantial, yet-to-be-ascertained amount of cash.
“Initial investigations indicate that an officer associated with the Oyo State Police Command sustained severe injuries during a confrontation that arose when his team on patrol engaged the suspects in a bid to thwart their further plans of causing chaos following the attack on the unsuspecting individual.
“Fortunately, there have been no reported fatalities, and the injured officer is currently receiving immediate medical attention at a secure healthcare facility.
“In light of this incident, the Oyo State Police Command urges members of the community to come forward with any credible and timely information that may aid in the prompt apprehension of the suspects involved,” Osifeso stated in the release.
The law enforcement agency however assured the public that an extensive investigation is underway on the robbery, adding that updates will be communicated as soon as they are available.
