This followed his arrest and arraignment at the court on charges of criminal defamation, intimidation, inciting disturbance, and cyberstalking.

As part of the bail conditions, the court ordered that Portable must provide two sureties in like sum.

One of the sureties must be either the Kwara State Chairman or Secretary of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN).

The second surety, the court demanded, should be a landed property owner in a Government Reserved Area (GRA) with a valid Certificate of Occupancy (C-of-O).

The case, filed as First Information Report (FIR) 117(1) CPC, was initiated by the State Intelligence Department (SID) of the Nigeria Police, following a petition by popular Fuji musician, Saheed Okunola, popularly known as Saheed Osupa, dated 21 March, 2025.

According to the Kwara State Police Command, the petition bothered on serious allegations, including criminal defamation, threat to life, incitement, character assassination, conduct likely to cause a breach of peace and use of abusive and insulting words.

Saheed Osupa had alleged in the petition that Portable, during a live Instagram broadcast on 19 March, 2025, made defamatory remarks against him, accusing him (Saheed Osupa) of jealousy and attempts to sabotage his career.

Portable reportedly said in the viral video: “This man dey try bring down my shine! He be like person wey dey chop snail with shell—him no get sense.

“Osupa na tortoise. When Apple Music and Spotify wan drop money for me, na him remove my song from platform make I no see money.”

Osupa described the statements as damaging, inciting, and an attack on his reputation, further claiming that the content had caused public tension and unrest.

Police investigators said Portable confessed to the allegations during interrogation at the State investigation Department (SID) in Ilorin.

Portable, who was arrested last Saturday in Abeokuta, Ogun State, was arraigned under multiple legal provisions, including:

Section 392 (Criminal Defamation),

Section 114 (Inciting Disturbance),

Section 397 (Criminal Intimidation) of the Penal Code,

Sections 24(1)(b) and 24(2)(c) of the Cybercrimes Act, 2015,

Sections 10 and 13 of the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law, 2020.

According to Investigating Police Officer (IPO), ASP Adeniyi James, the charges were filed based on direct instructions from police authorities.

Portable, who hails from Oke-Osa in Sango-Ota, Ogun State, remains in custody pending fulfillment of his bail conditions.

The case has been adjourned, with the trial judge urging both parties to remain civil as the legal process continues.

Speaking with newsmen outside of the court premises, counsel to the embattled lewd musician, Chief Ezekiel Adebayo, said an oral application for bail was made and it was granted.

“Saheed Osupa said Portable defamed him and all sorts. We were at the Kwara State Police Headquarters. Portable begged him. The commissioner of Police begged but he said no, until they bring him to court.

“We are in court. Thank God, the court granted Portable bail. Though the condition is a bit stringent, but we will meet up, by the grace of God.

“The bail conditions are that Portable should provide the state chairman, Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) and also some one that has landed property at the Government Reservation Area (GRA).

“We are meeting up with the conditions, by the grace of God,” the counsel to Portable assured.
