23-year-old Emmanuel Godwin of 25 Chinda Street, Ikwerre Road, Port Harcourt, Rivers State has allegedly admitted to abducting and defiling a 14-year-old girl, in company of three other suspects now at large.
The suspect allegedly confessed to have abducted the minor and detained her in a room where he and three other individuals engaged in unlawful acts with her for over one week.
Emmanuel Godwin was arrested on Wednesday by operatives of the C4I Strike Force in the state, while on a routine patrol along the Casablanca Axis, GRA Phase-2, Port Harcourt.
Police Public Relations Officer, Rivers State Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, stated these in a press release, dated Friday, 4 April, 2025.
The law enforcement agency in the state had issued the release to inform the public of the recent arrest concerning a case of abduction and defilement.
The press release was tagged “Arrest Of Suspect For Abduction And Defilement Of A 14-Year-Old.”
“On April 2, 2025, at approximately 3:20 am, operatives of the C4I Strike Force, while on a routine patrol along the Casablanca Axis, GRA Phase-2, Port Harcourt, apprehended one Emmanuel Godwin (male, 23 years old) of 25 Chinda Street, Ikwerre Road, Port Harcourt.
“The suspect was found in the company of a minor, name withheld (female, 14 years old), of 11 Nwogu Martins Street, Chinda, Ikwerre Road, Port Harcourt.
“Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to abducting the minor and detaining her in a room where three other individuals also engaged in unlawful acts with her for over a week,” it was stated in the release.
The Rivers Police stated that efforts were currently underway to apprehend the other suspects who were at large.
“The apprehended suspect will be charged to court after investigations,” the Police assured, adding that further updates on the case will be communicated in due course.
Meanwhile, the Rivers State Police Command has restated its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents.
