Workers Paralyse Court Activities In Ogun
Judicial activities have been suspended in Ogun State as workers in the state judiciary, under the aegis of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), have put the courts under locks and keys.
The judiciary workers, according to the state chairman of JUSUN, Mr Edun Tajudeen, are on an indefinite strike, inp protests against an alleged short payment of salaries by the state government.
He said the strike was in compliance with the directive from its national secretariat, to wit, that the affected staff should embark on strike beginning from today, August 11.
Tajudeen noted that series of meeting had been held with the representatives of the state government but ended in a deadlock, hence the commencement of the strike.
“We noticed the short payments in our salaries since October 2020. This strike is indefinite because, on February 24, 2021, we gave the state government an ultimatum to pay us our full salaries before the nationwide strike on autonomy began.
“After the strike, the meeting continued with the government but it did not yield any result,” he said, just as he, however, appealed to the state government to look into the requests of the workers and do the needful.
