Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, Chairman/CEO, Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort, is set to launch a food bank across all geo-political zones in Oyo State next week.
The food bank initiative by the well-respected community leader and philanthropist was aimed at uplifting communities in the state during the festive season.
The initiative, designed to ensure that traders, associations and individuals from all walks of life have access to essential food items, was to enable them to celebrate the season with joy and dignity.
“The food bank initiative by Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi is coming at a crucial time when many families face significant financial challenges, particularly during the holiday season.
“Findings have shown that the rising costs of living and economic fluctuations have left some residents struggling to provide for their families.
“The food bank initiative by Sanusi aims to alleviate these pressures by distributing food supplies to those in need, ensuring that no one in the community has to go hungry during this festive period,” it was stated in a release on Tuesday.
Sanusi further said: “Our community thrives on the principle of togetherness and support. It is our duty to ensure that every resident has the opportunity to celebrate this season.
“The food bank will serve as a vital resource for families, helping them enjoy the festivities without the burden of financial strain.”
In addition to the food distribution, the event will include awareness campaigns about food security and nutrition to emphasise the importance of healthy eating, even during festive celebrations.
Sanusi affirmed that education is key, noting: “While we provide food, we also want to educate our community about making healthy choices, even when celebrating.”
