The League of Veteran Journalists, Oyo State, has declared that the victory of the President-elect, Senator Bola Tinubu, was not a fluke.
The League stated this in a message congratulating the President-elect on his victory at the February 25 presidential election.
Recalled that Tinubu emerged victorious at the election ahead of the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Mr Peter Obi, who came second and third, respectively.
The League of Veteran Journalists, in a statement by its chairman, Mr Banjo Ogundele, and secretary, Mr Taye Adegoke, said the President-elect worked hard to sell his candidacy to Nigerians.
It added that the President-elect was able to overcome all odds ahead the tough race and emerged as the president-elect through his resilience and doggedness.
“Your resounding success was no fluke because you really worked hard to sell yourself to the people across the length and breath of the country.
“The race was tough but you overcame all odds through your resilience and doggedness.
“With your antecedent as a senator and particularly as a two-term governor of Lagos State, which you, by dint of excellence and hard work, turned into one of the fastest growing economies in the world.
“We are sure you will deploy your God-given energy and management acumen to select proven technocrats to help reverse the ship of state that is in peril of nose-diving into the deep.
“You have a track record, as we already said, and we are sure you will do it again on a larger scale for the nation, yearning for development and change in the right direction and for humanity.
“We wish you good health of mind and body that will enable you succeed in the daunting task, among which are security, the economy, fuel, energy, decaying educational system, the heath-care delivery and the welfare of the aged and employment for the youths,” the League stated.
Wishing the President-elect resounding success, the League of Veteran Journalists assured him of its “very best regards and good wishes at all times.”
