President Muhammadu Buhari has promised to support Osun State as requested by the state governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke.
The promise by Buhari to support the state was contained in a statement by the Special Adviser (Media and Publicity) to the President, Mr Femi Adesina.
The Osun State helmsman was at the State House, Abuja, today, on a ‘thank-you’ visit to Mr President.
The governor was elected on platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He said he came to the State House to appreciate the president for providing a level-playing field in the election that held in Osun State, last July.
Adeleke defeated the immediate past governor of the state, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the governorship election.
The defeated APC governorship candidate is however still in court, challenging the outcome of the electoral contest.
“I had waited patiently for this appointment. I was praying fervently for it to happen. It’s a dream come true for me to see you and have a handshake.
“I am a beneficiary of the new Electoral Law you signed. It paved the way for free and fair elections, ruling out ballot box snatching and stuffing.
“The security agencies followed your instruction to be fair and firm. I am so proud of you.
“You are a true father, regardless of political party differences,” Adesina stated in the statement.
The governor said free and fair elections would be one of the greatest legacies President Buhari would bequeath to the country.
Governor Adeleke noted that the development was already being applauded home and abroad.
He gave his priorities in Osun State to include development of agriculture, education and investment drive.
The governor requested support on infrastructure development, a proposed new economic city and free trade zone, tax credit and other federal facilities in the state.
