Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, Ige Olakulehin 1, has called on Nigerians to have the fear of God.
The first-class traditional ruler also urged Nigerians, irrespective of their religion, tribe, culture and tradition, to put God first in their daily activities.
The Olubadan further said: “God is love and if you love Him, you will fear Him and obey His commandments which basically stated that you should love God and your fellow human beings.”
Oba Olakulehin stated these as the Royal Father of the Day at 2024 Adult Harvest celebration of the Cathedral of St Peter, Aremo, Ibadan.
As contained in the press release by his Chief Press Secretary, Olugbemiga Ayoade, Olubadan spoke at the event through the Palace Chaplain, Pastor Adediji Olusoji.
Olubadan admonished traditional rulers, religious, political and community leaders, as well as their followers, to know that they are accountable to God and that, one day, they will render an account of their stewardship to their Creator.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Provost of the Cathedral of St Peter, Very Rev’d Samuel Kayode Olawoyin, appreciated oBa Olakulehin for honouring the invitation and the support he gave to make the harvest celebration a huge success.
Very Rev’d Olawoyin prayed for a continued peaceful co-existence in Ibadanland, Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole, particularly during the reign of the Olubadan of Ibadanland.
In his sermon, the preacher, Venerable Dr. Moses Akinola, enjoined the congregation to note that the earth is God’s vineyard and God would harvest all according to everyone’s performances while on earth.
Ven. Akinola urged all and sundry to retrace their steps and do the will of God in order to inherit the heavenly kingdom.
Present at the event were Prince Adekunle Owolabi Olakulehin, the Special Adviser to Lagos State Government on Physical Planning and Urban Development, Chief Olajide Abiodun Babatunde, clergymen and laities, among others.
