Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba (Dr) Owolabi Olakulehin (Ige Olakulehin 1), has declared the title of Sarkin Sasa null and void and not recognised by Ibadan Traditional Chieftaincy Law.
This was as the foremost traditional ruler of Ibadaland also reinstated the sacked Chief Sulaiman Olawale Oladoja Akinsola as the Mogaji of Akinsola Family Compound, Labiran Area, Ibadan.
As contained in two separate press releases from the Olubadan Palace, the two major decisions were taken by the Olubadan-In-Council and the Olubadan Advisory Council during a meeting held at the Olubadan Palace.
Olubadan declared: “Chief Akinade Ajani Amusa is the recognised Baale of Sasa land in Akinyele Local Area and the accredited representative of the Olubadan of Ibadanland.
“Let it be noted that any individual or group of persons in Sasaland are under the authority of the Baale of Sasaland, Chief Amusa Akinade Ajani.
“It is therefore imperative to accord him the appropriate respect and authority.
“Any disobedience to his directive will be met with serious sanctions as it will be considered an affront to the Olubadan stool.”
It would be recalled that the eighth day firdaus prayer of late Alhaji Haruna Maiyasin Kastina was observed on 8 March, 2025 at Sasa, Ibadan.
The event however turned out to be the turbaning ceremony of Ciroma, the son of the deceased, as the new Sarkin Sasa without the approval of His Imperial Majesty, Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Press Secretary to the Olubadan, Chief Olugbemiga Ayoade, stated in the press release.
In another development, the Olubadan Advisory Council, on Tuesday, Chief Sulaiman Olawale Oladoja Akinsola as the Mogaji of Akinsola Family Compound, Labiran Area, Ibadan.
It would be recalled that the appointment of Oladoja as the Mogaji Akinsola was revoked on 12 March, 2024 by the late Olubadan, Oba (Dr) Lekan Balogun over alleged complicity in a land dispute.
However his reinstatement as the Mogaji Akinsola was contained in the official statement issued by the Olubadan Palace, signed by the Clerk to the Olubadan Advisory Council, Mr A Kolawole Balogun.
The statement read in part: in part reads “After series of appeal, the Olubadan of Ibadanland considered your plea and has directed me to inform you that, in consideration of your recent Letter of Appeal and the letter received from the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, dated 26 August, 2024 with Reference Number CB.161/1/18/69, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr, Owolabi Olakulehin, has graciously approved your reinstatement as Mogaji Akinsola Family Compound, Labiran Area, Ibadan with immediate effect.”
The letter also admonished Mogaji Akinsola to use the privilege of his reinstatement to contribute his quota to the development of Ibadanland.
