A Federal High Court, sitting in Ibadan, has extended till 29 January, 2026 an injunction restraining the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Olaoye from imposing a caretaker committee on Egbe Omo Ogbomoso Parapo Agbaye.
The presiding judge, Justice N. E. Maha, during hearing on Monday, extended the injunction restraining the Soun from dissolving the executive of the association and caretaker committee members appointed by him from operating.
Acting president Egbe Omo Ogbomoso Parapo, Alhaji Yusuf Adetayo, alongside two other members, Mr. Tolani Balogun and Alhaji Bukola Badmus, had dragged Oba Olaoye, Professor Josiah Ajiboye, and the association’s registered trustees to court.
The duo were seeking an order restraining the Soun from effecting the changes in the leadership of the association.
Their decision was a response to the pronouncement of dissolution of the executive by the Soun, Oba Olaoye, in September.
Oba Olaoye had also announced Professor Ajiboye as the caretaker committee chairman of the Egbe Omo Ogbomoso Parapo, pending the conduct of an election to produce a substantive executive.
The court had restrained Soun from sacking the executive of the association and Professor Ajiboye from acting as the caretaker chairman of the association, pending the determination of the motion on notice filed on November 11, 2025. He ordered both parties to maintain status quo ante.
At the hearing on Monday, the respondents’ lawyers announced the filing of an objection to the injunction as well as an application challenging the court’s jurisdiction on the matter.
To allow the respondents serve the plaintiff and be ready for hearing, the judge extended the injunction till 29 January, 2026 during which the three applications in the suit – motion on notice, originating summons and notice of preliminary objection – will be delivered.
