In commemoration of the National Police Day, the Ogun State Police Command, on Saturday, conducted a free medical outreach in Abeokuta, the state capital.
The initiative, demonstrating that compassion is also an innate quality of every dedicated law enforcement agent, catered to members of the public who were specially invited from far and near.
The free medical outreach was held in collaboration with Swipha Pharmaceuticals, Grace Awokoya Health Foundation, Oral Health Africa Initiative and the Nigeria Police Clinic,
As contained in press release by the state PPRO, CSP Omolola Odutola, beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the kind gesture.
The state Chairperson of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), had earlier in the day, led the charge alongside officers from the Command Headquarters in a 10,000-step walkathon.
The walkathon was held as part of the effort to promote physical fitness and mental well-being as part of a balanced work-life routine.
Following the walkathon, the state police boss, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, delivered a keynote address emphasising the importance of maintaining a sustainable and healthy lifestyle.
The event also featured impactful health talks on blood pressure management by Babalola Feyisope Oluwaferanmi and prostate health by Dr. Opeyemi Ilepe.
Dr. Ihegboro Minachiso was the host medical consultant for the outreach.
Beneficiaries received free consultations, including eye and dental screenings, blood sugar and blood pressure checks, personalised counseling and free access to a dispensary.
“The outreach was a testament to the unwavering commitment of the Police Force to community care beyond security duties,” it was stated in the release.
