The management of Lead City University (LCU), Ibadan has awarded the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Akinloye Olakulehin (Ige Olakulehin 1), an honorary Doctorate Degree in Public Administration.
The award of honorary degree to the foremost Ibadan traditional ruler was part of the activities for the 17th Convocation ceremony of the institution.
Olubadan was represented by Aremo Olubadan, Prince Sumbo Owolabi Olakulehin, at the event which took place at the Adeline hall, LCU, on Wednesday.
In his acceptance speech, the Olubadan appreciated the university for the award. He used the opportunity to congratulate the new LCU graduates.
“I congratulate Lead City University. I will say that LCU is a pride of Ibadan. We in Ibadan are always proud of LCU as one of the first generation of private universities in Nigeria”.
The Chancellor of the university, Professor Gabriel Ogunmola, while speaking, said the award was in recognition of the immense contributions of Oba Olakulehin to the society.
He added that the Olubadan has made significant contributions in the areas of public administration and management, business, philanthropy, educational development, healthcare and community services.
Professor Ogunmola maintained that the institution, in recognition of these laudable achievements decided to confer the Olubadan with the honorary doctorate degree in Public Administration.
Prince Olakulehin was accompanied to the event by the Asaaju Olubadan, Chief Ademola Odunade; Gbonka Olubadan, Chief Olufemi Ogunwole; Oota Balogun, Chief Kayode Afolabi Kadelu; Aare Egbe Omo Balogun, Chief Adegboyega Adegoke; Prince Adekunle Owolabi Olakulehin and Prince Isiaka Folaranmi.
