Egbe Omo Ogbomoso Parapo Agbaye has declared that the purported dissolution of its executive by the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Olaoye was divisive and illegal.
This was as the association also alleged that Ogbomosoland was becoming more polarized in recent times.
Egbe Ogbomoso Parapo, comprising all Ogbomoso indigenes worldwide, in a press statement on Tuesday re-affirmed its rejection of the purported dissolution of the association’s executive by the Soun of Ogbomosoland.
It declared the action of the traditional ruler as null and void, insisting that the association was duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
Egbe Ogbomoso Parapo further stated that it is guided by its own constitution, and, as such, cannot have its executive dissolved by the fiat of the Soun who is the Grand Patron.
The association stated that it was “ironic and unacceptable for an honorary grand patron of a registered organisation with its approved constitution to unilaterally, without recourse to the provisions of the constitution, dissolve the elected executive committee of the organisation.
“It is unacceptable for the Soun of Ogbomosoland to appoint an illegal caretaker committee in its stead. The act is unknown to the constitution of Egbe Omo Ogbomoso Parapo Agbaye and such the dissolution and appointments cannot stand.
The association further stated in a press statement that, rather than unity, Ogbomoso was getting polarized in recent times.
The association disclosed that, at an emergency meeting on Monday, it suspended Engineer Lanre Ogunwole said to have been imposed by the Oba Olaoye and appointed Alhaji Abdulrahim Adetayo Yusuf as the Acting President.
The Egbe Ogbomoso Parapo, in the statement by Adetayo Yusuf and the Public Relations Officer (PRO) Comrade T. M. Balogun, urged Ogbomoso indigenes worldwide to disregard the illegal pronouncement by Oba Olaoye.
The statement read: “the emergency meeting of the Egbe Omo Ogbomoso Parapo Agbaye held at the association’s Secretariat, Ile Egbe Omo Ogbomoso Parapo Agbaye, Apake Area, Ogbomoso which commenced at about 11:15a.m.
“Elaborate discussions were held on the sole issue of the illegal dissolution of the Executive Committee of the union under the leadership of the newly-appointed acting President, Alhaji Abdulrahim Adetayo Yusuf who is also one of the surviving members of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of Egbe Omo Ogbomoso Parapo Agbaye.
“The following resolutions were made: “The immediate suspension of Engineer Lanre Ogunwole and appointment of Alhaji Abdulrahim Adetayo Yusuf as acting President.
“That the purported dissolution of the Executive Committee of Egbe Omo Ogbomoso Parapo Agbaye by Kabiyesi, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III is null, void, unconstitutional, illegal and ultra-vires.
“That Egbe Omo Ogbomoso Parapo Agbaye is a registered legal entity with its registered members of the Board of Trustees (BOT).
“The constitution and Board of Trustees were registered at the Corporate Affairs Commission, Abuja in 2014 and ratified by the General Congress of Egbe Omo Ogbomoso Parapo Agbaye in December, 2017.
“The Egbe Omo Ogbomoso Parapo Agbaye has an approved and registered constitution through which the various organs of the association function.
“No one can violate the content and spirit of that registered and approved constitution because it is the grundnorm upon which the life of Egbe Omo Ogbomoso Parapo Agbaye itself rests.
“It is indeed ironic and unacceptable for an honorary Grand Patron of a registered organization with its approved constitution to unilaterally, without recourse to the provisions of the constitution, dissolve the elected Executive Committee of the organisation and appoint an illegal Caretaker Committee in its stead.
“The act is unknown to the constitution of Egbe Omo Ogbomoso Parapo Agbaye and such dissolution and appointments cannot stand.
“Aside the Soun of Ogbomoso as the Grand Patron, His Royal Majesty Olugbon of Orile Igbon, His Royal Majesty Onpetu of Ijeru, His Royal Majesty Onikoyi of Ikoyi, His Royal Majesty Aresadu of Iresaadu and His Royal Majesty Alajaawa of Ajaawa are all life Patrons of Ogbomoso Parapo appointed since time immemorial.
“There is nowhere in Kabiyesi Oba Ghandi’s proclamation of the dissolution of the Executive Committee of Egbe Omo Ogbomoso Parapo Agbaye where any mention was made of consulting with these royal fathers.
“We dare observe that Kabiyesi Soun’s action is divisive. Actually, the city of Ogbomoso is getting polarized. This is an avoidable potentially dangerous situation.
“This is a clarion call to all Ogbomoso sons and daughters both at home and diaspora to disregard the purported dissolution and appointment of an illegal Caretaker Committee that is against the letters and spirit of the Constitution of Egbe Omo Ogbomoso Parapo Agbaye which has not been suspended or repealed by the General Congress of Egbe Omo Ogbomoso Parapo Agbaye.
“Finally, Egbe Omo Ogbomoso Parapo Agbaye is vibrant and alive with its elected Executive and living Board of Trustees (BOT) members, and will continue to exist in line with the dreams of our founding fathers.”
