Senator Cyril Oluwole Fasuyi represents Ekiti North Senatorial District of Ekiti State in the 10th assembly of the Upper Chamber.
He is diligent, industrious, energetic, determined and dedicated but not so keen on publicity. Unknown to many, he has represented his people excellently well.
The average Nigerian politician often exploits this seeming lacuna to denigrate hard-working representatives who don’t show off by trying to make a really big impression. They paint such representatives in a negative light just in a bid to upstage.
But records don’t lie!!!
Senator Fasuyi has acquitted himself very well in the committee of senators in the 10th Senate. As Chairman, Establishment and Public Service Committee of the Senate, he has a lot of achievements that are unsung in his sojourn as a representative of Ekiti North Senatorial District.
Those who would want to be remembered for truth would not deny that Senator Fasuyi has been training youths since his assumption of office. This is a way to help the Federal Government in the bid to reduce youth unemployment and restiveness.
It was the ingenious idea of Senator Fasuyi to establish youth training in essential skills such as soap making in Oye and Ikole local government areas of the Ekiti North Senatorial District. Other areas of training include poultry keeping in Ilejemeje, Moba, and Ido-Osi local government areas.
Fasuyi also thought about the importance of agriculture to the people of Ekiti State, being a largely an agrarian state. He invested largely in agriculture, distributing vital farm materials, including fertilisers, pumping machines, and pesticides across the five local government areas in the senatorial district.
In the area of health provision, Senator Fasuyi has enhanced accessibility to healthcare. He recently cleared hospital bills of indigent patients amounting to ₦3 million at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti.
Senator Fasuyi has also done a lot on the welfare of the elderly in his constituency. He frequently attends to the urgent needs of the elderly and vulnerable members of the society through regular care for widows and the aged.
More often than not, Senator Fasuyi swiftly responds to community concerns. There are instances in places like Isan, Ijesa-Isu, Ilogbo and Ayetoro-Ekiti.
Fasuyi has provided solar-powered boreholes across the senatorial district. Also, he has his imprint in the education sector. He has distributed JAMB forms free to thousands of students.
According to the senator: “In 2024 JAMB, we did about 400 forms, and in 2025, we have done like 350 forms.” The project is worth about ₦4 million. This is apart from scholarships he granted to uncountable students from the district.
Fasuyi has also facilitated the employment of over 30 graduates into the civil service commission in the country. These are people from the Ekiti North Senatorial District.
In the Senate, apart from having contributed to not less than eight successful bills, he has personally raised bills that have been successfully passed by his colleagues. He raised the Tertiary Education Trust Fund Amended Act, 2024, as well as the Pension Reform Act 2004 (Amendment) Bill. These efforts have tremendously contributed to good governance in the country.
Fasuyi is, indeed, a silent achiever and a consummate parliamentarian and politician.
