Aribasoye Urges Prayers for Bloodless Gov Poll In Ekiti
The lawmaker representing Ikole Constituency 2 in the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Honourable Adeoye Aribasoye, has called for prayers for pray for a bloodless and peaceful conduct of the 2022 governorship poll.
He made the call in his Christmas message, urging Christians in the state to celebrate Yuletide with moderation and in a peaceful conduct.
Aribasoye said he quite appreciate the power of prayers in the survival of any nation, saying Ekiti could have a blood and violence-free poll next year with fervent supplications by all citizens.
The lawmaker saluted Governor Kayode Fayemi and the security agencies operating in the state for their commitments to upscale security and boost business activities.
He said efforts by actors in the government circle can only be fruitful and made much easier when citizens key into their agenda.
The human rights activist told political actors that no election worth the blood of any innocent citizen, appealing that they must be civil and issue-based in their campaigns, rather than being desperate in actions and caustic in commentaries.
Aribasoye, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), urged Christains to live by the doctrines of love, sacrifice, togetherness and peace, which Christmas symbolises and conveys to mankind.
He specifically tasked Christians to cohabit peacefully with practitioners of other religions and work with government at all levels to defeat the menaces of insurgency, banditry, kidnapping and other criminalities holding the country by jugular.
“Let me felicitate our Christian brothers for witnessing this year’s Christmas and charge them to be more involved in nation building. No nation can grow when the citizens are unpatriotic.
“Without sounding patronising, Christians have tried and played their parts as stabilising factors in the task of building a nation we can all be proud of. I wish that they do more for all of us to accomplish a country we can all be proud of.
“Though we are passing through excruciating experiences at this time, but I believe that we can overcome these multifarious challenges and still become a nation that can attract respect continentally and globally,” he said.
