The Oyo State chapter of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) has declared that the party neither has a history of violence, nor is it known for violent activities.

Presidential/Governorship Apex Campaign Council stated this to  debunked the allegation by the All Progressives Congress (APC) that APM was planning to vandalised its billboard.

The Sharafadeen Alli Campaign Organisation had alleged a plot by “APM/PMS elements” to vandalise Senator Alli’s billboards and posters.

The Media and Publicity Committee of the APM campaign council described the allegation as reckless and baseless falsehood to create fear among the people.

Debunking the alleged smear campaign of the Oyo APC campaign organisation, APM stated in the statement that the allegation was a deliberate falsehood crafted to provoke fear.

“Oyo State APM Presidential/Governorship Apex Campaign Council notes with deep concern the statement issued by the Sharafadeen Alli Campaign Organisation, which recklessly alleged a plot by “APM/PMS elements” to vandalise Senator Alli’s billboards and posters.

“We state without hesitation that this claim is a deliberate falsehood, crafted to provoke fear, smear our campaign, and distract the public from the real issues facing Oyo State.

“APM rejects this allegation completely and unequivocally.

“APM has built its reputation on peaceful mobilisation, disciplined engagement, and respect for democratic norms.

“We do not destroy opponents’ materials, we do not sponsor thuggery, and we do not engage in violence.

“For clarity, APM is not the political organisation known for thuggery or violent political behaviour in Oyo State.

“The people of this state are fully aware of the long standing reputation of the APC regarding political violence, intimidation, and disruptive tactics during election seasons.

“That history does not belong to APM, and we refuse to allow anyone to drag us into that narrative,” the Oyo APM Presidential/Governorship Apex Campaign Council stated.

It declared that its campaign remained focused on peaceful political participation, respect for all candidates and their supporters, strict adherence to electoral laws, and promoting stability and responsible politics in Oyo State.

“We, therefore, urge the Sharafadeen Alli Campaign Organisation to desist from spreading inflammatory claims that could mislead the public or provoke unnecessary tension.

“Oyo State deserves a mature, respectful political atmosphere, not reckless allegations,” it was added in the statement.

The campaign organisation declared that APM remained unshaken, adding “We remain committed to delivering a campaign rooted in integrity, stability, and genuine service to the people of Oyo State.

“No amount of manufactured tension, reckless propaganda, or desperate political theatre will derail our dedication to peaceful democratic engagement.

“The people of Oyo State know who we are, they know our record, and they know our values.

“We will continue to campaign with discipline and honour, and we will not allow anyone to drag us into the gutter politics they are accustomed to.

“APM is moving forward confidently, peacefully, and with the full conviction that the majority of the people of Oyo State are solidly behind our party and our candidates.”
