Osun State governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has approved the use of the Osogbo Township Stadium for the presidential rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC), holding today.
The approval was contained in a statement by the governor’s spokesman, Mallam Olawale Rasheed.
He declared that the stadium was approved to manage the tense security atmosphere in the state.
The governor also directed security and other agencies to ensure maximum security at the stadium.
He however noted that the immediate past Governor Adegboyega Oyetola-led administration did not have such an approval to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) when it was in power.
The governor also raised the alarm that the APC may be out to cause violence during the rally and counseled the people of the state to stay away from the rally.
“Consequently, Senator Ademola Adeleke has directed the state police command and the Department of State Services to enforce state directives to ensure peace and tranquility across the state.
“Additionally, the state governor further directed Osun indegenes to remain peaceful and calm while, at the same time, warning against any attempt to create conflict in the Osun State,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, the Osun State government has called on residents of the state to stay away from the APC presidential rally, holding at Osogbo today.
The Governor Adeleke-led administration alleged that those coming for the rally in the state are violent-prone.
It urged residents to avoid the venue of the rally as there are credible reports that the APC has allegedly imported thugs, with some individuals coordinating the evil agenda.
“The APC has imported their agents of deaths. There is likelihood they may engage in fights and brawls.
“It is important for our people to stay safe, away from the assemblage of evil hands,” the state government affirmed in the statement.
