The Agura Family of Idi-Osun Lane, Agura Family Compound, Ido Town, has warned the public against any form of land transaction in Igbosanland, Ido, Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The Agura Family gave the warning in a public announcement issued on Saturday, 14 December, 2024 to assert its exclusive ownership of a vast expanse of land located at the Igbosan area of Ido.
The announcement was stated in a caveat emptor signed by key representatives of the family, including Madam Taibat Asake Akinwunmi, Chief Tajudeen Akinola Agura, Alfa Saheed Olasupo Agura and Hon. Adesina Salami-Olatoye Agura, for and on behalf of the entire family.
As stated in the caveat emptor, the land stretches from the Ogunwende/Elesin/Baale streams and the Federal Road Safety Corps Office area to the Ogun River and the boundary with Eruwa.
“The Agura Family of Idi-Osun Lane, Agura Family Compound, Ido Town, has issued a public announcement asserting their exclusive ownership of a vast expanse of land located in the Igbosan area of Ido, Ido Local Government Area, Oyo State,” it was stated.
The family emphasised that the land is not classified as stool land and is exclusively owned by the Agura Family, citing court judgments affirming their claim.
The Agura Family, recognised as the only statutorily acknowledged ruling house in the entire Ido Kingdom, warned against unauthorised transactions involving the land.
The family stated that no customary tenant has the legal right to sell or transfer any part of the land without the express consent and approval of the family.
The Agura Family also cautioned prospective buyers to beware of individuals or groups it described as “disgruntled and ignorant customary tenants or families” who are attempting to contest the family’s ownership rights.
“This is to announce to the General Public that the expanse of land situated, lying and being at Igbosan area of Ido, Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State which stretches from the Ogunwende/Elesin/Baale streams/the Federal Road Safety Corps Office area to the Ogun River/the boundary with Eruwa, belongs exclusively to the Agura Family of No. 1, Idi-Osun Lane, Agura Compound, Ido Town, Ido Local Government Area.
“The Agura Family is the only statutorily recognised Ruling House/Family in the whole of Idoland. Let it be known further that the said expanse of land is not a stool land.
“The judgments of the Courts are available and very loud and clear about these assertions.
“Furthermore, no customary tenant on the said land has the right to alienate and/or sell same without recourse, consent and express approval of the Overlord, the Agura Family.
“Let all buyers of the said land beware of the few disgruntled and ignorant customary tenants/families who are labouring, albeit fruitlessly, to challenge the rights and the overlordship of the Agura Family over the said expanse of land,” it was stated in the public notice.
