A leading contender for the governorship ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has called for peaceful conduct of ward congress to elect the three adhoc delegates of the party across the state.
He made the call in a press release by the Director, Media and Strategy, Ademola Adeleke Campaign Organisation, Rasheed Olawale.
The PDP governorship candidate in the 2018 election in the state said the ward congress is a further step in the drive by the party to produce a popularly-elected candidate to rescue the state from the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Senator Adeleke said the congress should therefore be held under peaceful, free and fair atmosphere, urging party members to exercise their voting right in unity and brotherhood.
“We belong to the same political family. We must conduct ourselves peacefully. We have confidence in the delegation sent by the national headquarters of the party to handle the exercise. Our team members are ready across the wards,” Adeleke stated.
While commending the national leadership of the party for the matured and impartial handling of Osun PDP issues, Senator Adeleke also hailed the state reconciliation committee of the party under the leadership of former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola.
“We must commend our leaders locally and nationally. They have put in a lot of efforts to integrate and unite us. We will not disappoint the elders, leaders and supporters of the party,” Senator Adeleke assured.
