Akwa Ibom Govt Takes Delivery of COVID-19 Vaccines
Akwa Ibom State Government has taken delivery of 69,030 doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines from the Federal Government.
The consignment, contained in brown cartons, reportedly arrived the Victor Attah International Airport at about 7:00 PM, just as the state’s Commissioner for Health, Professor Augustine Umoh, was on hand to receive the vaccines on behalf of the state government.
Speaking while taking the delivery, Professor Umoh assured that the state cold chain facility was in place to preserve the vaccines.
He affirmed that the vaccines are safe and, to ascertain the level of safety, he said frontline health care workers in the state would be the first to receive the vaccines.
According to him, order of, and centres for further phases of administration will be announced in due course.
