Osun State governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has warned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against manipulating the materials used for the governorship election held in the state, last Saturday.
The governor-elect gave the warning in a press release issued by the chairman of his Media Management Team, Prince Diran Odeyemi.
Adeleke alleged that the leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC) is planning the manipulation by romancing will the INEC with a view to upturn his victory in their proposed brief at the Election Petition Tribunal.
He further alleged that some of APC leaders have been moving around local government offices of the commission to liaise with INEC officials to tamper with some of the electoral materials in their custodies.
Senator Adeleke called on the chairman of INEC, Professor Mahmod Yakubu, to warn his officials in Osun State and call them to order so as to prevent them from perpetrating the dastardly act.
He urged the INEC boss to direct the submission of all the electoral materials used for the Osun State governorship election to the state headquarters amid tight security.
It would be recalled that INEC, on Sunday, declared Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of the Osun State governorship election held on Saturday.
The Chief Returning Officer of the INEC who is also the Vice Chancellor of University of Lagos, Professor Oluwatoyin Temitayo Ogundipe, declared Adeleke winner after polling 403,371 votes across the state.
Adeleke defeated the incumbent Governor Gboyega Oyetola of the ruling All Progressives Congress who polled 375,027 votes.
Ogundipe, under heavy security presence declared, Adeleke as the governor-elect, having won 17 out of the 30 local government areas (LGAs) in the state, while his closest rival, Governor Oyetola, won in the remaining 13 local councils.
