Yunus Akintunde Hands Over Classroom Buildings To 11 Schools In Oyo
Dr Yunus Akintunde, a senatorial aspirant from Oyo Central Senatorial District, has handed over one block of three classrooms each he facilitated to 11 schools across the 11 local government areas in the senatorial district.
The senatorial aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) said he does not need to be in position of authority before rendering assistance to his people and community.
Akintunde, a former Commissioner for Works in Oyo State, said, without any prompting, he, in November, 2021, deployed his wide connection to secure the intervention of friends and agencies facilitate the building projects.
The beneficiary schools included Tose Community Primary School (Akinyele); AUD Primary School, Ilora (Afijio), Yaaye Community Basic Primary School, Elegbo (Atiba); St. Peter Primary School, Odan (Egbeda); IDC Primary School, Oke Orere, Lalupon (Lagelu) and Ibere Community High School (Ogo Oluwa).
Others included Elekuro High School, Ogbere (Ona Ara); Ebenezer Primary School, Orisumbare (Oluyole); Adebimpe Community Primary School (Oyo East); Enuoran Oba Primary School (Oyo West) and Ikunsin Community High School (Surulere).
Dr Akintunde, who was represented at the handing over of the classroom building to the authorities of the beneficiary schools by Honourable Abiodun Adeyemo, said the buildings should be put in good use.
“I am grateful that these have come to fruition. I am grateful to you also that you cooperated with us while the construction lasted.
“This is something I like doing most. Over the years, I believe I have made solid relationships with people from far and near and it has been beneficial.
“Though they have always been of great assistance, I just decided last year to activate some goodwill that I have built over the years and these schools are the result,” he said.
The Oyo APC senatorial aspirant also disclosed that he would be handing over some borehole and streetlight projects he also facilitated.
Akintunde said: “It is not my money per se. It is your money. But we just need someone to deploy his network, to facilitate project.
“I am just grateful that God has used us to do this. I will not relent. I also like to use this medium to urge those who have connections to deploy them for the betterment of the society.”
He thanked the Federal Ministry of Works, authorities of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), friends and members of the APC.
Representatives of the communities and authorities of the beneficiary schools expressed their gratitude to Dr Akintunde and prayed that God will always be his guide in his endeavours.
