Akande Urges Makinde To Immortalise Alao-Akala
Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Professor Adeolu Akande, has called on Oyo State governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, to immortalise former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala by naming an edifice him.
He made the call while speaking with journalists on the sideline after his condolence visit to the Ogbomoso country home of the late Otunba Alao-Akala, who died on Wednesday.
Akande, who noted that the late Chief Alao-Akala served as governor of Oyo State for four years and 11 months, deserved to be immortalised by the government in appreciation of his contribution to the development of the state.
He noted that Alao-Akala’s politics was dominated by his love for the common man and the urge to be destiny-helper to many people.
Akande said: “As a politician, he had political differences with many people but that is the nature of politics. He was a man with a large heart who was committed to uplifting the common man out of poverty and despair.
“The testimonies to these are the huge turn out of sympathisers and the outpouring of grief on the announcement of his death. Not many politicians can record such testimonies.
“The late Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala left his imprint in the sands of time and the people of Oyo State will hold fond memories of him.”
