Ekiti 2022: Kayode Ojo Urges APC Aspirants To Avoid Campaign of Calumny
Engineer Kayode Ojo, a leading aspirant, has advised other aspirants on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State to avoid campaign of calumny ahead of the primary of the party, prelude to the 2022 governorship election in the state.
He gave the advice in a statement issued by the Kayode Ojo Campaign Organisation (KOCO), urging party’s aspirants to play politics with maturity and decency, devoid of campaign of calumny as the party holds its primary in January, 2022.
Ojo, in the statement signed by his Director of Media, Alhaji Deji Ayelabowo, gave the advice in response to a rumour that the campaign team of the immediate past Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr Biodun Oyabanji, is spreading false information about some other APC aspirants.
He, in the statement, advised the campaign team of the former SSG, who is also eyeing the governorship seat, “to stop hanging on the good reputation of other aspirants to sell their preferred aspirant.”
He made reference to a rumour making the rounds that two aspirants, Messrs Makinde Araoye and Demola Popoola, had stepped down for Oyebanji, noting that the duo had described the news as fake and irresponsible.
Araoye, is the Special Adviser to Governor Kayode Fayemi on Federal Matters, while Popoola is an aviation expert and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Emmanpop Ventures, and they have expressed interest to contest the 22 January, 2022 primaries of the Ekiti APC.
Ojo, a successful businessman and an entrepreneur, advised all aspirants to go to the field, to test their popularity, “rather than hanging on other aspirants to boast their ego”, adding that such cannot help such aspirant.
He said the best person to succeed Governor Fayemi must be a man with track records of achievement in the economic sphere who has cut a niche for himself as an outstanding achiever with a midas touch.
“Looking at the plethora of candidates joggling for the governorship position in Ekiti State, the one who parades credible credentials that make him look fit for the onerous job is Engineer Kayode Ojo.
“Kayode Ojo is an economic guru who has successfully navigated the global economic landscape and brought home many laurels and presently prepared to bail Ekiti State out of economic stagnation, with a view to improving upon the indelible legacies laid by Dr Kayode Fayemi.
“Kayode Ojo is a grass roots politician who has been very visible on the political horizon in Ekiti state for a fairly long time and has never wavered or faltered in his devotion to the cause of the All Progressives Congress.
“He has remained a grass roots party man who has deeply touched almost all wards and communities in Ekiti State. He has helped many sons and daughters of Ekiti state to realise their life ambitions.
“This illustrious and industrious son of Ikoro-Ekiti in Ijero Local Government Area is now determined to extend his assistance to almost all sons and daughters of Ekiti State, if he becomes the governor.
“For us all to become partakers in the next level of development of the state, all hands must be on deck to ensure that this gentleman is assisted with our votes to get him elected as the next governor of Ekiti State.
“All lovers of Ekiti State must spread the news and recruit other compatriots to campaign for Mr Kayode Ojo by telling them that we should not look further beyond this oil mogul to bail our State out of economic stagnation.
“It is a well known fact that the greatest problem of Ekiti State is underdevelopment of the economy,” the statement added.
