The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has tasked residents of Cross River State to increase their voting support for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
2027 and the Yilwatda challenge to Cross River residents
Yilwatda made the call during the APC presidential campaign rally held in Calabar, the state capital.
The APC national chairman joined Vice President Kashim Shettima and other party leaders at the rally to mobilise support for the president’s re-election bid.
Yilwatda commended the people of Cross River for their impressive turnout and warm reception at the rally, describing their enthusiasm as a reflection of growing support for Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He, however, challenged the electorate to translate their show of support into votes, urging them to surpass previous voting records in the state during the January 2027 presidential election.
Yilwatda also highlighted the economic prospects of Cross River State, saying the Federal Government’s infrastructure development agenda could position it as a major economic hub in the South-South Region.
He identified the proposed nationwide superhighway network, railway development and revival of seaports as key initiatives capable of expanding the state’s commercial opportunities.
According to him, improved rail transportation would facilitate the movement of people and goods, while functional seaports would boost maritime commerce, create employment and attract investment.
“For Cross River State, the opportunities are enormous. An efficient rail network will improve the movement of people and goods, while functional seaports can expand maritime commerce, create jobs and open new opportunities for businesses,”he said.
He added that a modern highway network would connect ports, production centres and commercial cities, further integrating Cross River into Nigeria’s expanding economic landscape.
The APC national chairman maintained that infrastructure development remained central to Tinubu’s economic reform agenda, noting that improved connectivity would enable states to maximise their economic potential and attract private-sector investment.
He emphasised that the task ahead requires unity, effective organisation and sustained engagement with the electorate, adding that the APC is determined to consolidate its national political strength through a campaign anchored on its record, policies and vision for Nigeria.
The National Chairman expressed confidence that Cross River State would play a significant role in the APC’s 2027 electoral victory, urging residents to seize the opportunity to support the continuation of President Tinubu’s administration.
He maintained that a renewed mandate would provide the government with the opportunity to deepen ongoing reforms, accelerate infrastructure delivery and expand the economic opportunities available to Nigerians.
The APC, therefore, called on the people of Cross River State to convert the massive enthusiasm demonstrated at the Calabar rally into a decisive electoral statement in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Renewed Hope Agenda in 2027.
He urged party members, traditional rulers, community leaders, youths and women to intensify grassroots mobilisation across the state, stressing the need for unity and sustained engagement with voters ahead of the election.
Yilwatda expressed confidence that Cross River would play a significant role in the APC’s electoral success, adding that another mandate for Tinubu would allow his administration to deepen ongoing reforms and accelerate infrastructure development.
