It has been revealed that Funke Ashekun has been persistent in her war against Dr DK Olukoya, the General Overseer of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry (MFM), in her desperate bid to get a US asylum for her family of six.
However, the US-based pupolar blogger has been swimming in troubled waters. Just last March, a Maryland, US High Court found her guilty in a case of falsehood and cyber bullying and she was ordered to pay the sum of $300,000 as damages to Dr Olukoya and MFM. The judgment was also upheld by a Court of Appeal, also in Maryland, US.
Recall that, running for over five years now, Funke, a former member of MFM, has consistently been presenting herself online as a victim of severe religious persecution.
On her different social media platforms, the blogger has painted various emotional narratives of fear, oppression and intimidation she said she suffered, together with her family, when she was in Nigeria and as a member of the MFM Church.
Funke Ashekun, Falsehood In Quest For US Asylum
She has persistently dedicated her page to what has turned out to be constant falsehood, accusations and inflammatory statements about her former General Overseer, Dr Olukoya, apparently with the intention to provoke outrage.
However, and as the saying goes, falsehood may have traveled for years, but truth will catch up with it, just within a twinkle of an eye.
It has been discovered that all the stories cooked up by the blogger over the years were directed at one purpose namely, to secure an an asylum from the US Government, having presented herself as one fleeing danger because of religious persecution.
Critics who questioned the credibility of her story were of the conviction that Funke Ashekun has, over the years, not been able to provide any credible evidence to support her various dramatic claims.
The order by the US Appeal Court to pay $300,000 for defamation and online propaganda notwithstanding, Funke has jettisoned objective truth as she remained defiant in her pursuit of building a narrative for the US asylum, albeit on the ground of falsehood.
Many observers, who have been following her carefully crafted narratives on her podcast for years, are now understand that one of the many reasons she has remained relentless in her efforts in backing out from her continuous claims of persecution is because of the asylum she has been seeking for her family of six.
The unrepentant Funke Ashekun has continued to recruit and pay different estranged members of the MFM to tell lies against Dr Olukoya. Just a few days ago, an audio leak went viral in which it was revealed how the blogger has been recruiting foot soldiers in war against the General Overseer and his church.
Funke Ashekun, Like Judas Iscariot
Members of the public, especially MFM members, cannot stop wondering how Funke, who it was said, Olukoya financed her wedding, provided free accommodation for several years with her family, gave two cars, placed children on scholarship, got privileged salary and also allegedly carted away over ₦3 million from the church, would suddenly become filled with hatred and vendetta.
Many also keep wondering why, up till now, Funke Ashekun has never presented evidence of physical threats, legal complaint, or verifiable documents to support her allegations against the MFM General Overseer, beyond her social media posts and emotional commentaries.
Not quite a few people are of the submission that the case of Funke Ashekun typified the tale of a shocking betrayal; an ingrate biting the fingers that once fed her.
The last is yet to be heard as events unfold, almost on a daily basis. Nevertheless, the case of the blogger is fast becoming one of the biggest stories in the history of Christendom.
