Ekiti @ 25: We Need More Sacrifices To Attain Greatness-Kayode Ojo
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Mr Kayode Ojo, has called on the people and residents of the state to continue making the necessary sacrifice that would enable it to attain the level of greatness envisaged by the founding fathers.
He made the call in a goodwill message by his Media Director, Alhaji Deji Ayelabowo, to congratulate the people and residents on the 25th anniversary of the creation of the state.
The frontline industrialist said though, the state remained one indivisible political entity adding: “There is no town mentioned in the state without ending with Ekiti and this makes us homogeneous, indivisible and a united people.
“We must all therefore continue to make concerted efforts to see the Ekiti of our dream come to full manifestation and to the admiration of all that fought for its creation.”
The governorship hopeful noted that though, change comes with pains before some fruitful gains, all the challenges confronting the state are surmountable, if all residents participate actively in its development.
“All hands must be on deck in building a peaceful, united and prosperous Ekiti. We must shun dissenting voices of division at this time that we need to stand in brotherhood,” he said.
Ojo commended the roles of eminent indigenes in ensuring the creation of the state in 1996, noting that the vision of a better and well-developed state should remain paramount in the hearts of its people.
He therefore renewed calls to all residents to support his vision of repositioning the state as a destination for living, investments and leisure.
The metarlugical and materials engineer, said that his administration, if given the opportunity, will embark on a number of projects and programmes aimed at ensuring the all-round development of the state.
He said his administration will establish agribusinesses, improved security, creation of a business-friendly environment and policies, and huge investments in infrastructure, all aimed at making Ekiti State a better place for the citizenry.
The APC governorship aspirant also paid tributes to the current and former governors of the state for what he described as their sterling contributions to its development.
The Ikoro-Ekiti born businessman cum politician said history would continue to be kind to the eminent personalities among whom were traditional rulers, retired senior civil servants, politicians, elder statesmen, academics, professionals, who fought against all the odds to have the state created.
He also congratulated Nigerians on the 61st Independence Day anniversary, saying: “I congratulate Nigerians on the independence of our dear country. Though we have different tongues, we have lived together for years as brothers.
“We must always demonstrate our commitment to a peaceful, united and indivisible Nigeria and always address our agitations and grievances on the table to dialogue.
“This is because we cannot afford to build a greater Nigeria while we are divided against one another. Our commitment, as leaders or as followers, in building a united country must not wane.”
