Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat has approached prominent businessman and renowned philanthropist, Chief Dotun Sanusi, to seek his support for his 2027 governorship bid in Oyo State.
The prominent Ibadan-based media entrepreneur he is seeking to contest the governorship election in Oyo State on the platform of the Accord Party (AP).
He formally presented his Expression of Interest and Nomination Form to Sanusi, the Okanlomo Oodua, as he intensified consultations ahead of the governorship election in Oyo State.
Oriyomi Hamzat, during the visit, described Sanusi as a highly influential figure in Oyo politics whose support could prove pivotal.
He said his decision to seek the endorsement was rooted in respect for Sanusi’s longstanding contributions to the state’s development and political landscape.
“I am here to formally present my Expression of Interest and Nomination Form and to seek your fatherly guidance and endorsement.
“You are a man of immense influence in Oyo politics, and your support carries significant weight among the people,” he said.
Oriyomi Hamzat added that his ambition was driven by a desire to deliver purposeful leadership and improve the welfare of residents across the state.
In his response, the Okanlomo Oodua, Sanusi, commended Oriyomi Hamzat’s courage and political aspiration, urging him to remain steadfast in the pursuit of his ambition.
He encouraged the media entrepreneur to remain focused, despite potential challenges ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
“You must pursue your gubernatorial ambition without any fear of intimidation, leadership requires courage, resilience and a clear vision, and I am confident you possess these qualities,” he added.
Sanusi, who is also the Bada Olubadan of Ibadanland, further pledged his support for Hamzat’s aspiration, assuring him of his backing in his personal capacity.
“I will support your ambition in my own capacity and ensure that you receive the encouragement needed to move forward,” he added.
Meanwhile, JDS group in the Accord Party also presented him an Award of Excellence.
