A group, known as the “Concern Group”, has faulted and tasked the police authority to come clean with its report on the circumstances of the death of the retired Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), David Shikfu Parradang.

Various reports on the social media, early Tuesday morning, claimed that the retired NIS boss was kidnapped and subsequently killed.

However, the FCT Police Command, Abuja, came out same day with a press release to debunk the angle of kidnapping, declaring that Parradang rather died, on Monday, in an hotel room at Area 3 Junction, Abuja where he had allegedly attended to a female guest.

The release, signed by Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, was tagged “FCT Police Respond (sic) To Misreported Death Of Retired Comptroller General David Parradang.”

The FCT Police Command stated that it was making the clarification to ensure that accurate information is disseminated to the public “in light of the recent reports alleging that retired Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service, David Shikfu Parradang, was kidnapped and subsequently killed.”

The Mercedes Benz car reportedly driven by the late Parrandang on Monday to his hotel room at Area 3 Junction Abuja

According to the police, the late Mr Parradang, on 3 March, 2025, at approximately 12:00 PM, drove in a black Mercedes Benz to Joy House Hotel, Area 3 Junction.

“He checked into the hotel, paying a sum of ₦22,000 for one night’s stay. Shortly thereafter, he directed the hotel room attendant to escort a female guest who had come to visit to his room.

“This lady left the hotel premises around 04:00PM of the same day.

“Mr. Parradang did not exit his room after the lady left.

“Around 04:00 AM of 04 March 2025, a friend who is a military officer, concerned for his wellbeing, traced him to the hotel.

“Upon arrival, the hotel receptionist and the officer proceeded to his room, where Mr. Parradang was found deceased, seated in a chair.

“The Durumi Police Station was notified and officers promptly arrived at the scene, secured the area, took photographs, and collected all relevant evidence to preserve the integrity of the crime scene.

“The body has been transferred to the National Hospital for necessary procedures, and hotel staff are currently cooperating with Police investigations.

“Effort is in top gear to effect the arrest of the lady.

“We urge the public and media outlets to refrain from spreading unverified information, including claims of kidnapping, that may incite fear or panic.

“The FCT Police Command is committed to conducting a thorough investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding Mr. Parradang’s death.

“We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we work to ensure justice is served.

“For any further inquiries, please contact the FCT Police Public Relations Office,” PPRO, FCT Police Command, Abuja, SP Adeh, stated in the release.

However, the “Concern Group”, in “Rejoinder To FCT Police Command’s Press Release On David Parradang’s Death” on Wednesday, expressed dissatisfaction with the police angle to the circumstances of the death of Parradang.

The group stated in the rejoinder that it was compelled to respond to the press release by the police, while acknowledging the efforts of the law enforcement agency to clarify the circumstances of the death of the former NIS boss.

“While we acknowledge the police’s efforts to clarify the circumstances surrounding Mr. Parradang’s death, we cannot help but raise critical questions about the inconsistencies and gaps in their narrative.

“The police claim that Mr. Parradang checked into Joy House Hotel, paid for a one-night stay, and received a female guest who left the hotel premises around 4:00 PM.

“However, the police fail to provide any information about the identity of this female guest, her relationship with Mr. Parradang, or her whereabouts after leaving the hotel.

“Furthermore, the police statement raises more questions than answers about the events leading up to Mr. Parradang’s death.

“Who was the military officer who traced Mr. Parradang to the hotel, and what was their relationship with the deceased?

“Why did the police not provide any details about the cause of death or the condition of the body when it was found?,” the group asked in the rejoinder.

The “Concern Group” further stated that it “also find it curious that the police are urging the public and media outlets to refrain from spreading unverified information, while simultaneously releasing a statement that lacks crucial details and raises more questions than answers.

“Could this hastily released press statement be a political detour or a cover-up?,” the group asked.

It raised further posers and demanded a more comprehensive and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Parradang by providing more detail information, including:

Identity and whereabouts of the female guest

It asked: “Who was the female guest who visited Mr. Parradang, and what is her current whereabouts?

The cause of death and condition of the body of Parrandang

“What was the cause of Mr. Parradang’s death, and what was the condition of the body when it was found?

Investigation of hotel staff and witnesses

“What measures have been taken to investigate the hotel staff and other potential witnesses?

Role of the military officer

“Who was the military officer who traced Mr. Parradang to the hotel, and what was their (sic) relationship with the deceased?

The “Concern Group” vowed to continue to monitor the situation and demand justice for the family and loved ones of Mr. Parradang.
