2023: Northern Group Drums Support For Tinubu
A northern group, the Northern Nigerian Advocate 4 Tinubu 2023, has thrown its weight behind the much speculated ambition of Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu to contest the 2023 presidential election.
The decision of the group was made known in a press release made available to the Newscoven.ng stating that the group was formed solely to canvass northerners to vote for the former governor of Lagos State in the 2023 elections.
Though he is yet to publicly declare his intention, the media space has been awashed with speculations that Senator Tinubu, one of the national leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), would join the fray to contest for the presidential seat in 2023.
The Northern Nigerian Advocate 4 Tinubu 2023 said its decision to support Senator Tinubu is backed by what it described as his unprecedented achievements as a former governor of Lagos State.
One of its leaders, Mallam Ibrahim Danbaba, said in the release that Tinubu’s political antecedents as Lagos State governor for eight years sets him apart as the best candidate to occupy the presidential seat after the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Danbaba further said: “Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s achievements and his leadership style which had groomed some set of politicians in the South-West and other parts of the country motivated us to form the group.
“The Northern Nigerian Advocate 4 Tinubu 2023 was formed with the sole aim of canvassing northerners to vote for Senator Tinubu as the next president in 2023 elections.
“The group has been mobilising and enlightening people on the need to rally round and support the former Lagos State governor, Senator Tinubu, come 2023.
“We organised prayers for Tinubu in Kano when he was on medical trip to London and the prayer session was attended by some leadership of the group across the northern states, with some political appointees of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje in attendance.”
The release further stated that the group would, by next February commence house-to-house mobilisation for Senator Tinubu across all the local government areas in the northern states.
“The group will later fuss with the main Senator Tinubu Campaign Organisation when the real political campaign begin next year,” the release further disclosed.
The Northern Nigerian Advocate 4 Tinubu 2023 is a social-political organisation formed in 2020, with its head office in Kaduna State and it comprises northern elites, both adults and youths.
It has its leaders and members drawn from all the local government areas of the 19 northern states and, starting with an initial 300 members, it now reportedly has over two million members and is still admitting several others into its fold, as part of the efforts towards realising its mission.
