Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ibadan South-West Local Government Area of Oyo State, Honourable Sunday Olu Babalola, has advised leaders and members of the party to embark on intensive membership drive, ahead the 2023 general election.
This was as he admonished the party leaders in the local government area to elevate party interest above personal interest and work a greater unity of the APC in the state.
He gave the advice at the swearing-in of the 12 ward chairmen in the local council and inauguration of a 27-man local government executive of the party, held on Thursday.
Honourable Babalola, in a release, also admonished the newly-sworn party leaders in the local government area to be worthy leaders in their respective wards.
He told the party leaders to play politics of inclusiveness and key into the unique membership drive of the party, ahead the 2023 general election.
The Oyo APC chieftain urged the 27-man local government executives to be worthy ambassadors of the party at all times and in all places.
“I want to congratulate you all for your recent elevation as the ward chairmen and local government executives of our great party in Ibadan South-West Local Government Area.
“However, your new positions come with a greater responsibility. It is a call to a higher duty and all eyes are on you. You must try, at all times, to justify the trust our teeming members have in you.
“I will also admonish you to be worthy leaders in your various wards. Please, endeavour to play politics of inclusiveness and carry your people along in all political matters.
“Furthermore you should key into our unique membership drive programme. This is to help us to populate the APC in Oyo State, in terms of numerical strength.
“I urge you all to be good ambassadors of the APC at all times and in all places. You should not elevate personal interest above party interest and the interest of the people that you are leading.
“This advice becomes pertinent in view of the fact that the 2023 general election is around the corner. All hands must be on deck to ensure that we regain control of government in Oyo State in 2023,” Babalola stated in the statement.
