A 30-year-old man, Michael Ogundele, has been arrested for allegedly shooting and injuring one Tobi Olabisi, said to be the lover of his younger sister.
Michael was arrested, last Thursday, by operatives of the Ogun State Police Command, having been alleged to have shot his victim, Tobi, for being in emotional entanglement with the suspect’s sister.
This was contained in a press release, AZ:5310/OGS/PRO/VOL.7/194.05/02/2023, by the state police image-maker, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi.
As stated by the police image-maker, the suspect shot his victim after having failed to heed several warnings to desist from having a love affair with the younger sister in question.
However, fate and destiny smiled on Tobi, the victim, as he managed to escape from being killed by Michael, his assailant.
Oyeyemi stated that the suspect was arrested following a report lodged at the Idiroko Divisional Headquarters by one Alpha Akeem, a community leader in Ihunbo Town.
It was stated that the community leader came to the police station with the injured victim to lodge the report of the incident.
The community leader further told the police that the suspect have been warning the victim to stop having love affair with his younger sister.
Failing to desist, the suspect fired a gunshot at his victim, but he narrowly escaped death, the community leader further stated.
“Upon the report, the DPO Idiroko Division, CSP Ayo Akinsowon, quickly mobilised his detectives to go after the suspect and he was subsequently arrested.
“On interrogation, the suspect claimed to have warned the victim to desist from dating his younger sister but refused.
“On the fateful day, he got an information that the victim was sleeping in his sister’s room and he went there with a dane gun.
“On getting there, the victim jumped out from the window to escape the likely consequence when he was shot by the suspect.
“The victim was quickly rushed to the General Hospital, Idiroko where he is currently responding to treatment,” SP Oyeyemi stated in the release.
He disclosed that the state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to Homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation Department.
Oyeyemi also added that the directive by CP Bankole was for the purpose of further investigation and possible prosecution.
