Oyo State governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has promised to investigate the collapse building incident that occured in Ibadan and in which 10 people reportedly lost their lives and several others injured.
The governor stated this, on Friday, in a press release by his Special Adviser (Media), Sulaimon Olanrewaju, to mourn the deaths of victims of the incident and also to condole their bereaved families.
Recalled that the unfortunate incident of building collapse occured on Thursday at the Jegede Olunloyo Area of Ona Ara Local Government Area, Ibadan.
10 people reportedly died in the sad incident, while several other people sustained various degrees of injury.
Governor Makinde gave an assurance that the state government would investigate the tragedy to ascertain its cause(s) and also to prevent a future occurrence.
The governor described the building collapse incident as an avoidable tragedy, praying to God to console the families of the deceased.
In a related development, Governor Makinde has extended condolences to the families of two chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Honourable Babatunde Eesuola and Mr Taoreed Adedigba, who both died on Thursday.
The two Oyo PDP chieftains, Honourable Eesuola, a former member of the state House of Assembly and Mr Adedigba, a former local government chairman, passed away during brief illnesses.
Governor Makinde commiserated with the PDP families in Oyo Federal Constituency and Akinyele Local Government Area over the deaths of Eesuola and Adedigba.
Eesuola was also a former chairman of the Oyo State Community and Social Development Agency, while Adedigba was the immediate past chairman of Akinyele Local Government Area.
