Senator Uche Ekwunife, Ph.D has accepted the result of the senatorial election held in Anambra Central Senatorial District, held last Saturday.
This was as she congratulated the eventual winner of the election, Senator Victor Umeh.
Senator Ekwunife of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was defeated by Senator Umeh of the Labour Party (LP).
The chairman, Senate Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation said this in a message of appreciation to the people of Anambra Central Senatorial District.
Ekwunife stated in a release by her media aide, Kingsley Ubani, that she has accepted her defeat in the senatorial election.
She also urged the constituents and critical stakeholders in the zone to support the senator-elect, Umeh, as he prepares to represent the people in the 10th Senate.
The federal lawmaker expressed gratitude to God for His guidance and protection throughout the long and intense campaign season.
She also appeciated God for the peaceful election and members of her campaign organisation, various support groups and individuals who worked in support of her candidacy.
Senator Ekwunife urged them all to accept the outcome of the election in her senatorial district in good faith.
She assures Ndi Anambra Central that the outcome of the election will not dampen her spirit and desire to continue to offer them quality and effective representation in the remaining months of her stay in office.
The chairman, Senate committee on Science, Technology and Innovation restated her commitment to finishing strongly.
The commitment, she noted, was in line with her promises to the people of the senatorial district.
Senator Ekwunife was first elected into the Senate in 2015, having defeated her current traducer, Senator Victor Umeh.
A member of the House of Representatives between 2007 and 2015, she is known as one of the most active female senators in the National Assembly.
