Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, Chairman of Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort, has donated 20 trucks of stone base material to support the potholes repair initiative of Ona Ara Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The donation by Sanusi is a palliative measure to improve the condition of the Ariyo-Dagbolu Road, which serves as a critical link for residents and businesses in the area.
The gesture by Sanusi, the Jagunmolu Olubadan of Ibadanland, underscored his continued commitment to the development of Ona Ara Local Government and his role as a philanthropic leader.
It will be recalled that Chief Sanusi was installed as the Asiwaju of Ona Ara by the Traditional Council of Ona Ara Local Government, led by the Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola.
The chieftaincy title was in recognition of his numerous contributions to the community, including infrastructure development, educational support and youth empowerment.
The Ariyo-Dagbolu Road rehabilitation project is currently being supervised by the Ona Ara Local Government Area, through the office of the Supervisory Councillor for Works, Hon. Adekola Adeniran.
Chairman of the local government area, Dr. Temitope Kolapo GLORIOUS, in his remarks, appreciated Governor ‘Seyi Makinde for his sustainability developmental initiative by allowing individuals to support efforts by the government to develop the grassroot.
The local government chairman expressed profound appreciation for the timely intervention of Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi in the rehabilitation of the Ariyo-Dagbolu Road.
Dr GLORIOUS commended Chief Sanusi for consistently putting the people of Ona Ara first in his efforts, describing him a true leader whose actions speak louder than words.
He said the rehabilitation process was put in place pending the commencement of the second phase of reconstruction of the Olorunsogo-Dagbolu Road Project by the Oyo State Government.
He restated the commitment of the administration of the local government area to ensuring that ongoing rehabilitation projects in the area were efficiently completed.
Speaking with journalists at the site, Hon. Adeniran praised the progress on the work, emphasising the importance of such collaborative efforts between private citizens and the local government.
“The intervention by Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi could not have come at a better time. The filling of the portholes will greatly ease transportation and economic activities for residents and commuters. We are grateful for his selfless contribution to the community,” Hon. Adeniran said.
Residents also expressed their appreciation to Chief Sanusi, noting that the road, which had become nearly impassable due to the deteriorating condition of the surface, will now see significant improvement.
“This road rehabilitation is expected to provide immediate relief to residents while more extensive plans for permanent road repairs are put in place by both the local and state governments,” it was stated in a statement.
