The passage of the Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba (Dr) Ganiyy Adekunle Salaudeen, Oloogunebi Ajinese I, is another sad loss, coming on the heels of the demise of four prominent traditional rulers in Oyo State within eight months.
Senator Kola Balogun, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, said this in his reaction to the demise of the traditional ruler who passed on today at the age of 62.
The federal lawmaker, in a statement he personally signed, expressed his condolences to the state government, the family of the late traditional ruler, the people of Iseyin and the people of Iseyin.
He said the demise of the 28th Aseyin of Iseyin was particularly painful, coming on the heels of the passage of four other prominent traditional rulers from the state within the last eight months.
“The news of the passage of the Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba (Dr) Ganiyy Adekunle Salaudeen, Oloogunebi Ajinese I, came to me with a rude shock. It is, indeed, another sad loss.
“We are still grappling with the passage of four prominent traditional rulers in the state within a space of eight months. Here we are mourning the demise of yet another great traditional ruler.
“Death is an inevitable end of all mortals but it is not good enough loosing a traditional ruler to the cold hands of death at a relatively very young age. But what can one do than to accept our fate as it comes to us?
“On behalf of my wife, Mrs Gbonjubola Kola-Balogun and my people in Oyo South Senatorial District, I hereby express my deep condolences to the immediate family of our revered late kabiyesi.
“My condolences also to the Oyo State government and the people of Iseyin on the irreparable loss. May the soul of kabiyesi, Oba (Dr) Ganiyy Adekunle Salaudeen, Oloogunebi Ajinese I, rest in peace,” Senator Balogun stated in the release.
The late Aseyin reportedly died early Sunday morning at the University College Hospital (UCH) where he has been on admission for months.
Oba Ganiyy Adekunle Salaudeen, who was rumoured dead on 10 February, 2022, was born into the family of late Pa Salau Atanda Oloogunebi of Iseyin, Oyo state.
He attended Ansarudeen Primary School, Ebedi, Iseyin and later proceeded to Muslim Secondary High School, Ore-Moje, also in Iseyin for his Modern School education.
He studied Veterinary Medicine at the University of Ibadan and graduated in 1991 with a good grade.
In November 2006, Prince Abdul Ganiyy Adekunle Salaudeen was selected and subsequently appointed as the 28th Aseyin of Iseyin.
