Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has promised to make the state university world-class, describing the multi-campus institution as a shining light among other universities globally.
He made the promise while receiving in his office a team from College of Law of the University, led by the Provost, Professor Mojeed Alabi.
The governor said he is proud that the institution is a legacy of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under the administration of former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola.
Senator Adeleke, for the umpteenth time, restated his commitment to supporting the growth and development of the university.
This, he said, is with the aim to further produce first class graduates that will be generally acceptable and marketable in the labour market.
In the same vain, the governor also promised to build the University of Ilesa to a world standard.
He then called on the university administrators to sustain the tempo of best global practice and professionalism.
He added that the university and their colleges must continue to be run transparently and responsibly.
The governor commended the management and the board of the university for doing a great job, charging them to keep the good work moving.
Speaking earlier, the Provost, College of Law, Osun State University, Ifetedo Campus, Professor Alabi, commended the governor for his humility and style of governance which he said has touched every sector in the state.
He invited the governor, as the Visitor, to the third in the series of Distinguished Personality Lecture of the College of Law.
The lecture, with the theme: “Supreme Court of Nigeria and recent development in public law”, and slated for 31 May, 2023, is expected to be delivered by retired Justice Mojeed Owoade.
Present at the meeting were the state deputy governor, Prince Kola Adewusi, Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye, and Head of Service, Mr Ayanleye Aina, among others.
